Take care of you jewlery
By properly caring for and maintaining your jewelry, you can enjoy and cherish it for many years and even pass it down through generations. Here are some tips for keeping your jewels in the best condition.
Silver jewlery
- Silver is a soft metal and can scratch easily.
- Over time, silver may tarnish (turn black), but it can be restored with silver polish.
- Dirt may accumulate in settings and crevices but can be cleaned with a soft toothbrush and mild dish soap.
Gold-plated jewlery
- Gold-plated jewelry at our store is coated with three layers of 18k gold over a core of 925 silver.
- Handle gold-plated items with care, as the plating can wear off over time.
- Avoid contact with water, perfumes, skin creams, and hairspray, as these can tarnish the jewelry and erode the plating.
- Wait until you are completely dry before putting on jewelry after a shower or bath.
- When not in use, store the jewelry in a small plastic bag to protect it from air and moisture.
Jewlery with diamonds
The setting around gemstones may wear down with daily use and should be checked by a jeweler every year or so.
